What Should You Ask Your Fire Sprinkler Installer?
Before installing fire sprinkler systems, it is important to consider other factors of importance. This then should be passed onto the fire sprinkler installer to ensure that installation runs smoothly and no future problems unfold.
What Accreditation Do They Have?
Fire sprinklers can be a large investment. They are long-term fire prevention methods that will suppress any flames and stop a fire from spreading any further. Therefore, it is important that installation is done effectively and efficiently to prevent any faults. If there are any faults with installation, this can lead to large expenses in the near future and issues with the functionality of the system.
It is important to ensure that the fire sprinkler installer or company are third-party accredited and has a strong reputation. At RAD Fire Sprinklers, we have FIRAS certification that assures our customers that all our installations will be carried out to the proper standard.
How Big is the Project?
Bigger, more difficult jobs will probably call for a fire sprinkler installer with a larger range of skills. For instance, an installer with advanced skills in design, resources, logistics, and other services will be needed for a cold-storage facility. Verify that your fire sprinkler installer is prepared to meet the demands of your particular task.
A significant concern is an insurance. Small contractors might not be able to obtain the necessary insurance or surety bond for major, complicated jobs like high buildings, power plants, or refineries. So, make sure you find a reputable fire sprinkler company that can meet these demands.
RAD Fire Sprinklers have performed a variety of large installations for both residential and commercial properties. Previously, we retrofitted 2096 sprinkler heads across 44 floors in the Arena Tower at Crossharbour Plaza, London. Find out more about our case studies here.
What Do You Need to Protect?
This can all depend on your specific building and the purpose you are requiring from the installation. For residential buildings, it is important that all the livable areas are covered, in case a fire occurred. This is vitally important in houses that have loft conversions and are multi-storey.
A water-based fire sprinkler system is typically the best choice if you primarily want to make sure people have enough time to evacuate in the case of a fire and/or prevent fire from spreading and destroying your property. At RAD, we utilise BlazeMaster CPVC to build and maintain these water-based systems. Due to their simplicity and ease of installation, maintenance, and even modification, these systems are by far the most popular for domestic and commercial use.
We typically recommend traditional pendant or concealed sprinkler heads. However, in certain situations, other systems may be more convenient. For example, in commercial buildings, a fire sprinkler installer may have to consider other systems, such as a dry pipe system for cold-storage spaces and warehouses. Make sure you make the fire sprinkler installer aware of the surroundings and what you will need to protect throughout.
