Anne Jones, the Welsh MP who has fought a long and hard battle to enable Wales to benefit from the highest domestic fire safety standards in the world, will not be too disappointed by the 2 stage implementation of legislation to fulfil her objective.
Although the implementation of the legislation which specifies that domestic and residential fire sprinkler systems are mandatory for all new and converted houses and flats has been put back to January 2016, these systems will be required in high-risk properties such as care homes, new and converted student halls of residence, boarding houses and certain hostels from April 2014.
Ann Jones, with Chris Joseph & Robin Daly at Neath & Port Talbot College, is assisting the British Automatic Fire Sprinkler Association’s (BAFSA‘s) Training Committee to develop a nationally recognised vocational qualification for fire sprinkler installers, including within the Welsh fire sprinkler community.
Here at RAD Fire Sprinklers, our team designs and installs sprinklers across the London and South East area. However, we keep up to date with the latest in the industry, including Welsh fire sprinkler news. Like this? Why not check out our previous blog on Welsh fire safety regulations here?
