Which Properties are More Likely to have Fire Sprinklers Fitted?
It’s no secret just how effective fire sprinkler systems are; they’re bound to be one of the greatest investments you ever make, and there is a system and set of sprinkler heads that will work best with your property. From schools and commercial properties to care homes and domestic dwellings, sprinklers can help reduce the damaging effects of fire and save lives. Some properties are more likely to have an automatic sprinkler system installed than others, despite the fact that they provide great benefits for all properties and dwellings…
If you ever find yourself wondering, “why should I install fire sprinklers?”, consider the statistics in terms of fire damage and loss of life. The performance effectiveness of fire sprinkler systems is 99%, highlighting their benefits for both your property and those within it. Having sprinklers installed can protect your building for years to come, but which properties are more likely to opt for having a system installed?
High-Rise Buildings
There are many examples of high-rise buildings out there; blocks of flats, commercial offices, hotels and even retail stores can all occupy a high-rise building. In the past in England, buildings that were taller than 30m were required to have an automatic sprinkler system installed in order to meet the required regulations. Following the tragic events of the Grenfell disaster, these laws have been changed. Now, buildings over 18m, and in some cases 11 meters, will be required to have automatic fire sprinklers fitted, in order to increase safety in the event of a fire.
In the next ten years, 15,000 high rise buildings such as residential blocks will be fitted with sprinklers for extra fire protection. Tragedies such as Grenfell should never happen again; individuals on all floors of a high rise building need to be protected and be able to exit the building without losing their lives. By installing sprinklers in high rise buildings, we can improve fire safety within all properties, keeping fire and water damage to an absolute minimum, saving the property and the lives within it.
Offices
Many commercial buildings will have some form of automatic sprinkler system installed. Not all UK businesses are required to install sprinklers, unless they span more than 20,000 meters. Businesses employing five people or more must conduct fire risk assessments, but these won’t be able to extinguish a fire effectively. Along with a smoke alarm, sprinklers can work to warn those within the office of a fire, and extinguish the blaze before it spreads out of control.
By installing fire sprinkler systems into your office space, you can highlight to your staff that you care about their safety. It could also be a great incentive for potential employees in the future, ensuring all risks of a fire are dealt with. To find out more about our installations, please visit us here.
Warehouses
In industrial places such as factories and warehouses, the risk of a fire is much greater. Large scale heating systems and other assorted appliances are constantly being utilised, and flammable chemicals could also be present. There are around 621 warehouse fires each year, a number that can be lowered if all industrial spaces across the country opt for an automatic sprinkler system.
Our team here at RAD Fire Sprinklers can design and install the best, most reliable sprinkler system for your property, ensuring it fits your dimensions and possesses the best sprinkler heads to dispense the appropriate amount of water. Sprinkler heads will be strategically placed in the roof to ensure a wider spread of water, and will be connected to the water supply through a network of pipes.
Domestic Properties
Fitting sprinklers and mist fire sprinklers in your home is a great investment, and will keep your family and your property safe from fire damage. There are many reasons why a blaze may break out in your home; faulty electrics, stove issues and, unfortunately, arson can all cause a fire to spread quickly. Sprinklers work to detect heat from a fire, extinguishing the blaze before it spreads to unmanageable levels.
Sprinklers are a common sight in various properties nowadays, but more needs to be done to highlight the benefits of installing a state-of-the-art system. To find out more, or to receive a quotation, please give us a call on 01892 680 090. Alternatively, you can fill out our online form here.
